Searching for the maximum of minimalistic mountaineering No support on the mountain - no safety equipment
I’m going for the last moves with my ice axes, bam, bam, bam. To allow yourself to fall down forward into the snow is a wonderful feeling. I’m already climbing far to long. Through the drying of my lungs I got a lung infection, but thats something I will only get to know later on in the hospital of Kathmandu.
All together I took a little more than a month. May experience shoed me that often it is good to have some extra days (I prefer a 2 weeks reserve) that can make the difference. While a lack of time, problems solved with violence, accidents and cold feet held the other expeditions back to reach the summit the perfect weather window opened up for me. This situation allows me to enjoy the silence on this beautiful mountain. There are many old and fragile fixed ropes but nothing new has been fixed- it couldn’t be better for an authentic solo climb.
